There are moments when we know something needs to shift. Not necessarily because life is falling apart, but because a quieter part of us knows we are ready for the next layer. We may feel stretched, stuck, restless or strangely called toward change without yet knowing exactly what that change will be. We may be functioning perfectly well on the outside, keeping commitments, meeting deadlines and carrying responsibility, while another part of us is whispering that there is more to listen to. For me, these moments happen pretty regularly, which may be why I have become such good friends with the energy of transformation.

Transformation is a word that can sound grand, but in real life it often begins quietly. It begins when we admit that an old way of operating no longer fits. It begins when we notice that the strategies which once helped us succeed are now costing us too much. It begins when the body asks for rest, the heart asks for truth, or the creative self asks for space. Sometimes transformation arrives through joy, inspiration and possibility. Sometimes it arrives because we are tired of pushing against the same inner wall.

This September, I will be leading The Transformation Retreat at Champneys Forest Mere, a mindfulness and wellbeing retreat designed for reflection, renewal and practical inner change. I have lost count of how long I have been teaching at Champneys, but it must now be over a decade. Returning there each year has become part of my own rhythm, and I have seen again and again how powerful it can be when people step out of ordinary life and into a well held space of reflection, mindfulness and renewal. The setting itself helps. Nature, spa, woodland, conversation, solitude and rest all become part of the work.

This is one of the reasons I love retreat work. A retreat is not an escape from life, although it may offer a very welcome break from routine. At its best, a retreat creates the conditions to meet life more honestly. It gives us enough space to hear what has been drowned out by busyness. It gives the nervous system permission to soften. It allows the mind to stop solving everything at once, and it invites the deeper self to come forward. In a world that often rewards acceleration, a retreat is a conscious act of slowing down.

The retreat is designed as a weekend of mindfulness, reflection, creative exploration and gentle but powerful inner work. It is for people who want to reconnect with their own wisdom and take their next steps with authenticity, purpose and joy. We work across four themed sessions: The Beginning, The Vision, The Discovery and Wisdom in Action. Each session combines meditation, reflective enquiry and facilitated exercises that invite participants deeper into their own experience. The work is not about forcing an answer. It is about creating the conditions in which insight can emerge.

The Beginning gives us a chance to arrive properly. This sounds simple, but many of us rarely arrive anywhere with our whole being. We bring our bodies into a room, while the mind is still in the inbox, the family conversation, the future plan or the unresolved worry. To begin consciously is to pause, breathe, notice and acknowledge the truth of where we are. It is a way of saying, “This is the ground I am standing on.” Without that honesty, the next step can easily become another performance.

The Vision invites us to listen for what wants to emerge. Not just what we think we should want, or what would look impressive from the outside, but what feels alive, true and aligned. Vision is often misunderstood as a purely strategic exercise. Strategy matters, but vision also has a felt sense. It has energy. It has texture. It may begin as a whisper rather than a fully formed plan. On retreat, we give that whisper time to become audible.

The Discovery is where we meet the material that sits between where we are and where we are being called. This may include beliefs, fears, patterns, unfinished grief, old identities or the simple habit of self-protection. This part of transformation can be tender, but it is also liberating. When we bring awareness to what has been shaping us unconsciously, we reclaim choice. We begin to see that we are not fixed. We are in process.

Wisdom in Action brings the work back into life. A retreat is only truly useful if it changes the way we return. The aim is not to have a beautiful weekend and then collapse back into the same patterns. The aim is to leave with clearer intention, deeper self-trust and a practical sense of the next right step. Sometimes that step is bold. Sometimes it is subtle. Often, it is both.

World Wellbeing Week is a good moment to remember that wellbeing is not only maintenance. Of course, sleep, movement, boundaries and digital hygiene matter. But sometimes we need something deeper than maintenance. We need a reset. We need a pause that is spacious enough to help us remember what matters and brave enough to help us release what has become too heavy.

If this year has been asking a lot of you, perhaps the invitation is not to push harder. Perhaps it is to pause more deeply. The Transformation Retreat takes place from 11 to 13 September 2026 at Champneys Forest Mere. If you have been feeling stuck, stretched or quietly ready for a new chapter, this may be your invitation.

There comes a point in many professional journeys where effort alone is no longer the answer. More focus, more discipline, and more output can only take you so far. Beyond that, what is often needed is not more activity, but a different kind of space.

For many of the professionals I work with, this realisation emerges gradually. Work remains demanding, expectations continue to rise, and despite continued effort, something begins to feel constrained. Clarity becomes harder to access, energy fluctuates, and decision-making carries more weight.

In these moments, stepping away is not a retreat from responsibility. It is a return to perspective.

A changing environment has a direct impact on how we think and feel. When we step out of familiar routines, the pace of thinking begins to shift. The constant input reduces, the body starts to settle, and space opens for a different quality of awareness. From this place, insight becomes more accessible.

This is the intention behind The Transformation Retreat at Champneys.

Over three days, the focus is on creating the conditions for clarity, restoration, and grounded reflection. This is not about dramatic change or abstract ideas. It is about reconnecting with what is already present, but often obscured by pace and pressure.

Through guided sessions, conversation, and time to step back, participants are supported in slowing down enough to see more clearly. This often leads to shifts in how they relate to work, to pressure, and to their own expectations.

What changes is not just perspective, but relationship. Relationship to time, to energy, and to what matters. Decisions that previously felt complex begin to simplify. Energy starts to return. There is a sense of coming back into alignment.

Importantly, this is not about stepping out of life, but about returning to it more effectively. The aim is not escape, but integration, so that what is seen and understood during the retreat can be carried forward into daily professional life.

For those working in demanding environments, this kind of pause is not indulgent. It is intelligent. It supports long-term effectiveness, clearer decision-making, and more sustainable performance.

The Transformation Retreat takes place at Champneys from 11–13 September 2026.

If you are noticing the need for space, for perspective, or for a different quality of attention, this may be the right moment to step back and reset.

Time For Transformation at Champneys: Why We Retreat?
There comes a moment when the pace of modern life becomes unsustainable.

When your inner being whispers for stillness, clarity, and depth. That moment, for many, is now.

We are not just exhausted. We are over-stimulated, under-inspired, and collectively seeking a way back to ourselves.

This is the context in which I created my ** Transformation Retreat** at Champneys Forest Mere. A sanctuary to pause, to breathe, to listen, and to evolve.

The Call to Retreat

For years I’ve witnessed how a few days of intentional space can shift the trajectory of a life. Not through escape, but through presence. Not through performance, but through release.

A retreat is not a luxury. It is a return. A reclaiming of your inner world, your clarity, your purpose.

And there is something special about doing this in community. When people gather with a shared intention to grow, heal, and awaken, the field changes. Insight arrives faster. Peace deepens. Transformation quickens.

What to Expect

At Champneys, we begin by slowing down.
We explore mindfulnessself-masteryconscious leadership, and energetic presence.
We practise meditationmovementreflection, and rest.
We create space for the emergence of the next version of you.

Whether you’re a professional in transition, a leader seeking clarity, or a spiritual seeker ready for renewal, this retreat is designed to meet you where you are and lift you higher.

All of this unfolds within the stunning grounds of one of the UK’s most beautiful wellness resorts, supported by nourishing food, spa therapies, and nature’s balm.

Why Now?

Because the world is not waiting. The pace of change is accelerating, and your grounded clarity matters more than ever.

The most powerful shift you can make for your life, your work, and the planet is this:
Come back to presence.

That’s what this retreat is about.

If you feel the nudge, trust it.
We begin again, together, this September 26-28th.

Spaces are limited. Book early to reserve your place. Click here.
