There comes a point in many professional journeys where effort alone is no longer the answer. More focus, more discipline, and more output can only take you so far. Beyond that, what is often needed is not more activity, but a different kind of space.

For many of the professionals I work with, this realisation emerges gradually. Work remains demanding, expectations continue to rise, and despite continued effort, something begins to feel constrained. Clarity becomes harder to access, energy fluctuates, and decision-making carries more weight.

In these moments, stepping away is not a retreat from responsibility. It is a return to perspective.

A changing environment has a direct impact on how we think and feel. When we step out of familiar routines, the pace of thinking begins to shift. The constant input reduces, the body starts to settle, and space opens for a different quality of awareness. From this place, insight becomes more accessible.

This is the intention behind The Transformation Retreat at Champneys.

Over three days, the focus is on creating the conditions for clarity, restoration, and grounded reflection. This is not about dramatic change or abstract ideas. It is about reconnecting with what is already present, but often obscured by pace and pressure.

Through guided sessions, conversation, and time to step back, participants are supported in slowing down enough to see more clearly. This often leads to shifts in how they relate to work, to pressure, and to their own expectations.

What changes is not just perspective, but relationship. Relationship to time, to energy, and to what matters. Decisions that previously felt complex begin to simplify. Energy starts to return. There is a sense of coming back into alignment.

Importantly, this is not about stepping out of life, but about returning to it more effectively. The aim is not escape, but integration, so that what is seen and understood during the retreat can be carried forward into daily professional life.

For those working in demanding environments, this kind of pause is not indulgent. It is intelligent. It supports long-term effectiveness, clearer decision-making, and more sustainable performance.

The Transformation Retreat takes place at Champneys from 11–13 September 2026.

If you are noticing the need for space, for perspective, or for a different quality of attention, this may be the right moment to step back and reset.

Spiritual but Not Religious? Meet Your Conscious Celebrant in London
On 17 May 2025, Jack and I were married at the top of The Gherkin in London, hand in hand, surrounded by family, friends, and love.

The ceremony was transformative, deeply meaningful, and unlike anything we’d seen before. It was spiritual but not religious. Personal, poetic, grounded in presence.

Afterwards, so many guests said the same thing:
“That was the most beautiful wedding ceremony I’ve ever attended.”

It was in that moment I knew, I had to offer this to others.

If you’re looking for a spiritual but not religious celebrant in London, or anywhere in the UK or even internationally, this service is for you.

What Is a Conscious Celebrant?

A Conscious Celebrant creates wedding ceremonies with soul – ceremonies that honour love as sacred, without relying on religious tradition. My work blends mindfulness, poetry, storytelling, and presence to create moments that are authentic, inclusive, and unforgettable.

Whether you’re marrying in London, the countryside, or abroad, I’ll help you shape a ceremony that feels just like you.

This isn’t about templates or traditions. It’s about truth. Your truth, spoken clearly and beautifully on one of the most important days of your life.

Why Spiritual but Not Religious?

So many couples today feel a deep sense of spirituality – connection, energy, meaning – but don’t identify with organised religion. You want your ceremony to feel sacred, not scripted. Personal, not performative. Real.

spiritual but not religious wedding gives you the freedom to honour your values, your journey, and your love in a way that resonates deeply.

Whether you include readings, rituals, music, or moments of silence, I’ll help you craft a ceremony that’s meaningful for you and accessible for your guests.

A Bespoke Wedding Ceremony Created Just for You

As a non-religious wedding celebrant in London, I work with couples from all backgrounds and beliefs. Each ceremony is created from scratch. You’ll be guided through a mindful process that helps you reflect on your love, your partnership, and the vows you wish to speak.

The result is a bespoke, heartfelt wedding ceremony that brings your guests into presence – and gives you a moment you’ll never forget.

I also love working with LGBTQ+ couples, blended families, and those looking for non-traditional ceremonies, meaningful spiritual connection, or a modern way to honour love with depth and intention

Together, we can create something magical, inclusive, and true.

Available in London, the UK, and Internationally

Although I’m based in London, I’m available for destination weddings across the UK and internationally. Whether you’re planning a city celebration, a retreat-style wedding, or an outdoor ceremony in nature, I bring presence, professionalism, and care to every detail.

This is more than a job. It’s a calling. A way of celebrating love as a conscious, sacred act.

Ready to Create Something Beautiful?

If you’re looking for a spiritual celebrant in London, a non-religious wedding ceremony that touches the heart, or a conscious wedding crafted with intention, let’s talk.

Enquire now to explore working together.

“Camping is about re-connecting with our primordial selves. The reason that cooking humble food around a campfire, surrounded by family and friends, feels so good is that for eons that was the definition of life in the tribe. It is woven into our very DNA.” – Anonymous

My wife had always been opposed to the idea of camping. However, when we got to this year, and were in search of a good holiday to take our 3-year-old on when under a budget, she conceded.

I had always camped as a child. They are the holidays that have stayed with me. Don’t get me wrong, weeks in Greece or Spain, hanging out next to the sea was wonderful, but no holiday experience is as infused into my positive memories as camping near Dartmoor. Knowing how I felt about these trips, and wanting our son to enjoy some free and uncomplicated time away from the city, my wife suggested we give it a go.

I knew I could convince her to love it. I knew I’d love it. I took us to the very same campsite that I spent months of my life in as a child. What I didn’t expect was how profoundly content I’d feel there as an adult. Of course, there was nostalgia tied up with it… but now that I live the complicated and stressful life of a grown-up, I was astounded at just how much positive impact it had on my emotions, my inner peace, my anxiety, and my mindfulness.

1.     Low Tech

When I was a kid in the 90s and 00s, a life consumed by tech was less of an issue. Now, as we know, our phones are in our faces all the time. And so, the absence of my tech was thrown into sharp focus. All notifications were off, and social media was completely uninteresting compared to the forested hills rising around us, and the ancient trees scattered across the fields.

2.     Simplicity

There is something to be said for the removal of an abundance of choice. We had a small stove, a box of food, and a small cool bag. There was not much to do but run around the place, play games on their picnic blanket, or stare into the unobstructed distance with a cold drink in hand. Not having much of life’s clutter around was so decompressing.

3.     Boring Tasks

Every task was made enjoyable. The ritual of taking a shower involved getting my stuff together and walking through the beautiful and near-deserted campsite (it was low season). Every trip to the amenities block was one of mindful contentment, an opportunity to just be in the place, with no pressure from either time or responsibility. Washing dishes was done overlooking an area of forest, where birds occasionally fluttered from the canopy into the air, and the sound of children playing could be heard. Yes, even washing up was quite enjoyable.

4.     The Stars

The sky was crystal clear, and the stars were bright. I have always loved the night sky in this part of the country, and I still do. My wife and I stared and talked about the night sky for a full hour at least one night. It was awe-inspiring, and humbling, and managed to give us a little perspective about how big the universe is, and how we might put too much pressure on ourselves!

5.     Musical Silence

When going to sleep, there is no white noise like the wind passing gently through the trees, accompanied by the rushing of a powerful river down in the valley next to you. There is also nothing like waking up to the sound of morning birds singing and the distant crackle of someone frying bacon a few pitches over.

6.     Togetherness

There was something extra special about simply being together in this location. This was for a few reasons. Unlike other holidays, camping is an experience in which, mostly, you fend for yourself… no porters, no waiters, no advisers… no staff for miles. And so, this makes your unit feel more isolated… which, in this scenario, is a positive. You naturally focus on one another. There was also something immensely wonderful about watching my son experience something that I, myself, cherished so much as a child. He loved the freedom of nature, and relative nothingness, so much, and I’m delighted we could do for him what my parents did for me. I hope he feels as warmly towards that place as I do in years to come.

As I write this, I am still buzzing from the incredible experience that was the Wisdom 2.0 Conference 2023 in San Francisco. As a mindfulness teacher and author, I was thrilled to be able to physically attend this annual gathering of thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and practitioners exploring the intersection of wisdom and technology for the first time since the pandemic.

As always, the conference featured an impressive line-up of speakers, including Chris Plowman, CEO of Insight Timer, who delivered an inspiring talk on the role of technology in promoting meditation and the challenges that his company has faced on the path to profitability with integrity – they are almost there! He also offered a timely and passionate critique of the big tech players, whose growing control of the algorithms that shape human behaviour are folding in more and more powerful AI capabilities, without sufficient due diligence to keep us protected from unintended harms.

Byron Katie, author of ‘Loving What Is’ and one of my all-time favourite teachers shared her transformative technique of inquiry and self-reflection. If you haven’t discovered her work before – find a few of her YouTube videos and see her in action. The process appears simple but has multiple layers and much to offer in the way of freedom from suffering. I was lucky enough to speak with her one-to-one – thanking her for her work – and then experience a Byron Katie hug! Imagine the Universe seeing itself in the mirror – time and form dissolving into pure love. It was an exquisite gift that has stayed with me.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI and creator of ChatGPT, spoke about the ethical implications of artificial intelligence whilst being interviewed by the renowned Buddhist teacher Jack Kornfield (author of ‘After The Ecstasy, The Laundry’). Having recently watched the AI Dilemma presented by the Center For Humane Technology: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoVJKj8lcNQ I was ready to see something of a showdown. This wasn’t what happened, but the impact of the talk was reassuring overall.

Jack has been mentoring Sam for a few years helping him as he questioned the nature of consciousness in relation to the emergent AI capabilities. Sam decided to release ChatGPT publicly to create a public discourse around AI and educate people about its capabilities. (I agree that this was the right step rather than continuing to develop it in secret). And yet we must be very clear that this is a watershed moment for humanity and our next steps will define our future.

As the world grasps the nature of AI and starts to see how it changes everything, we must quickly evolve the laws, regulatory frameworks, and higher ethics that give us the best chance of co-creating the future. We must remember that the core value of our civilisation is love and human connection and the one thing that AI cannot replace. Corporations must temper their greed thrust and come together with the wider world to transition mindfully. I believe this is possible – but the difficult conversations must happen now.

Beyond the AI conversation and keynote teachers, I was particularly delighted by the presence of indigenous speakers such as Dr. Lyla June Johnston and Dr. Yuria Celidwen who brought the deep wisdom of land and spirit to the conversation. They reminded us of the interconnectedness of all beings and the need to honour and protect our planet and its biodiversity. They spoke of Indigenous Science in a way that was absolutely fascinating and made me rethink the whole premise of science and civilisation as I know it. My conclusion – humanity has so much to learn about stewardship from those that have lived for so long in harmony with the environment. Their voices must be amplified at this time as our environment continues to be degraded by our collectively unconscious behaviours.

Beyond all of the wisdom sharing, perhaps most of all, what keeps drawing me back across the Atlantic to dip into this community of conscious leaders is the sense of the collective intention that drives all those that come to grow in self-awareness and to share their learnings with their network, their clients, their families. It is rare for me to find a community that feels so coherent in its goals and ambitious in its efforts. It is a joy to be amongst them.

Overall, I left the Wisdom 2.0 Conference 2023 feeling energised and grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many of my fellow conscious professionals – new friends and old. The conference reinforced my belief in the power of wisdom and technology to create a more balanced, mindful, and compassionate world. I look forward to attending next year’s event and continuing to contribute to this important conversation. I hear it will be back in the Bay Area next year.

Perhaps see you there?

“Every sunset is an opportunity to reset.” – Richie Norton

I don’t so much find myself looking for resolutions in the new year, as much as I see it as an opportunity to get back on track with a few things. To reset and refocus. I have things in my life that I love, that do me good… but as the year goes on and fatigue sets in, many of these things, these endeavours, fall out of my routine. Or at least are not as prominent or looked after as I’d like.

Perhaps you are like me. Perhaps you have come into the new year thinking, ‘oh yes, I’d really better get back in control of things that benefit my wellbeing’. Whether you are big on the new year or not, I think the festive holidays provide us with a particular kind of energy. An energy and an intention to get life and our own resilience back under control, and this often mean focusing on a few areas of nourishment.

1.     Exercise

Exercise in December is often harder. There is much more going on socially, and indulgence is never far away. Yes, like to get back on track with my exercise in the new year. But it is also an opportunity to reset old habits, patterns and routines. Perhaps it’s time to try something new. Exercise, however much you like it, can be boring. Take the opportunity of the new year to add something fresh to your exercise routine. Perhaps it’s a different walking or running route. Perhaps it’s a new machine at the gym, or a new skill to master. Perhaps you’d like to try a new sport or activity altogether. I took on skipping a few years ago and loved it! What might it be this year?

2.     Conscious Eating

Again, December throws my routine off. We eat at odd times, we don’t know what day of the week it is, we throw any control out of the window. And we should. It’s a time of celebration! But now the year is afresh, I’m really looking forward to getting back to a conscious routine with food. I’m going to find a few new recipes, reset my weekly food plan, and get excited about getting my body ticking over in comfort once again.

3.     Relationships

There are people I really must make an effort to go and see. There are relationships that I have not nurtured enough over the last year. January is a pretty empty month anyway. It can be pretty bleak too. Why not cheer it up and make it useful by reconnecting with those people that you wish were a little closer to you than they currently are?

4.     Home Environment

The general state of our flat got away from me at the end of last year… and now my kid has a load of new stuff for us to find space for! Use that fresh energy to reset your home. Declutter that room, sort through that wardrobe, fill up those bin bags full of tat that no longer mean anything to you! This is the time to do it!

5.     Goals

What do you want out of this year? If you are anything like me, the vast expanse of the next 12 months can seem overwhelming, especially, if also like me, you are in a business where you never know what work will come your way from one month to the next. Who knows what this year will hold?

Time to set some goals.

Are there any goals from last year that didn’t get hit? Fancy resetting on those and having another run at them? And as much as smaller goals are safer and ‘more achievable’, don’t be afraid to dream big and set a few goals that might seem, for now, a little out of reach… twelve months is a long time, and you never know where you might be this time next year.

This year has really been a bit of a blur since our holiday in March when Jack and I were stuck in Mexico wondering if BA would be sending a plane to bring us home!

(Have you noticed how time seems to be moving differently – apparently it’s because we are experiencing less highlight moments and community events which usually act as memory markers. Without these – the days weeks and now months merge together.)

With the launch of the new and improved The Conscious Professional imminent – I thought I would share our Covid journey and let you know some of what is in store!

A Fresh Approach

First of all – the first few months were quite hairy – for a corporate training company offering mainly in-person solutions – we witnessed a slew of understandable cancellations and postponements. Then as workplaces began to acclimatise to the working from home reality – we started to see new bookings and new clients seeking support for their staff – the ray of light!

As this was happening I was researching different online models so that we could do more than just present and coach online – but do something that we haven’t done before – build a community of conscious professionals and start to offer inspiring learning experiences direct to our community.

It turns out – this requires a lot of head-scratching – software researching – trial and error and a bit of magic! A team started to assemble around me (who I could not be more grateful for) and as we refreshed the look and feel of the brands, websites, logos, and imagery, the technical solutions began to come online.

A New Horizon

We are now almost ready to open the doors to our FB Group – The Conscious Professional Mindful Community which will become the hub of our online activity with free live meditations each week!

To address the FB point – I have to say that before lockdown I had lost my love for FB but then I joined some really transformational groups and programs which have catalysed so much growth and creativity in my business and life. It has once again got me back into FB (despite all its flaws – I know!).

I hope you will consider joining us for the next stage of the journey. We are still very much ready for your corporate training enquiries but also excited to start building a network of conscious professionals and conscious leaders. We aim to support and inspire you as you drive forward the changes that are so needed in our world.

The group will open soon for pre-registration – do sign up for our newsletter or follow our socials to be the first to join!

1. Anxiety

When we are anxious, mindfulness encourages us to meet the experience with acceptance, non-judgment and compassionate awareness. One of the outcomes of the mindful approach is that we step into resourcefulness rather than victimhood. We acknowledge our experience and through not resisting, we allow it to normalize. Anxiety dissipates or we take action.

2. Catastrophising

Have you ever noticed that when something small goes wrong, the mind starts listing a whole sequence of future problems that may arise as a result. This mindset is often dubbed catastrophising. Mindfulness allows us to come back to our actual experience, it returns us to the present moment and therefore brings us back to our senses (literally). It is far more useful to be fully present with what has actually happened then to live a life predicting the worst.

3. Vulnerability and Tragedy

No human life will go untouched by vulnerability and tragedy. Whilst mindfulness cannot protect you from the pain of either it can remind you that suffering is a choice.

4. Stress at work

The pressure of deadlines, difficult colleagues, the struggle for recognition and office politics all provide wonderful opportunities to put the lessons of mindfulness into practice. Noticing your growing ability to respond resourcefully, to create solutions and to meet each moment with curiosity are all signs that your mindfulness practice is paying dividends.

5. Family issues

If you think you are enlightened they say you should spend a week living 24/7 with your family! Some of our biggest challenges to remain mindful are found at home. It is so easy to repeat old patterns, to rehearse painful conversations, arguments, to re-draw familiar lines in the sand. Mindfulness invites us more deeply into the uniqueness of the moment and allows us to see beyond the drama and patterns that may have kept us stuck for so long.
